Penang Georgetown Sightseeing

Penang VIsit: Georgetown Sightseeing..
On Sunday, Jan 17th, I decided to go around the Georgetown and do some sightseeing. Upon finding the taxi rates, I found it too expensive to spend RM30/hour. Explored some of the other options and found that there is a bus service, called "CAT", which runs between KOMTAR and Jetty and is free for all tourists.

That's it.. I decided to go by that bus and get down at some central place from where I can walk around myself, and catch the bus again while coming back...

Some of the photos of my Sunday explorations...

A tallest building in Penang:
This is just backside of the hotel, I am staying in. This snap is taken from my room only.. :)

There is a mall adjacent to the building above
This is the view of the mall, from my room

I started from Jalan (Road) Penang. There is this Chinese temple near the bus stop..

This one is called "Temple of Goddess Mercy"

A stall near the temple, selling the pooja material.. :)

Cheon Fat Tzee Mansion. This mansion has a guided tour twice a day. But my timing was too bad. So I decided to snap it from outside and move on..

Another snap of Cheon Fat Tzee Mansion.

Yet, another view..

This is a photo from a picture that shows a bed inside this mansion..

There is no beach here, but just like PIER, there are quite a few boats visible from here..

View from War Memorial...

Fort Cornwalis.. (Was closed due to Sunday).. :(

Teochew Temple..

Here, I found an interesting poster about the architecture of the temple.. There are various different architectures of chinese temple, depending on the varsity / clan of the chinese worshippers..

In most of the temples, they worship the GOD (A deity, who they believed as GOD in their Avatar) and then they put some symbols of everyone in their family when they die..

Penang BOMBA station (Fire Station)..

Floor making machine in Cheah Kongsi..
Another clan whose temple is built, and there are some items stored in their kitchen showcase...

A nice work in the "front Donation Box"

Yap Kongsi Temple...
